Holiday festivities have built in power. Happiness and joy? Yes.
Also the power to stir the pot, make waves, get us riled up over the small stuff, pushing buttons we may not be aware of until after it happens. You know what I mean.

It isn't that I don't like the Thanksgiving holiday.
It seems to me that we goal oriented Americans get caught up in social materialistic perfection and presentation to the point that we often lose touch with the main theme which is all about - giving thanks.

Recently a group of Iranian fans made a tribute video for the Happy song written by Pharrell Williams. It showed six unveiled women and men dancing to the song on rooftops and in the streets of Tehran. Those involved in the Iranian Happy were detained and then arrested after it was posted online.
This story got me to thinking ... Thinking about happiness and personal freedom of expression ... all that stuff.

I have always believed in paying attention to small but perfect moments. This is not only satisfying and delightful but a healing balm in difficult times of all description: illness, loss, failures, disappointments. All the wrong turns in life soften when a perfect moment is noticed.
No matter the personal malady, a perfect moment brings us back to center, grounds us, allows us to feel at home and safe in our changing and often scary world.
